A cable duct is an indispensable system for the safe installation and protection of electrical cables. It protects cables from mechanical stress and damage, keeps them organised and prevents tripping hazards. The most common materials are PVC in Germany and steel in North America. Cable ducts can be mounted on walls or integrated into lightweight walls and suspended ceilings. They offer a simple solution for avoiding complex flush-mounted installations and allow flexible adaptation of the cabling, especially in office and living areas. A special form is the parapet trunking, which is installed at parapet height and integrates sockets, light switches and other connections in addition to cables. This type of trunking is particularly practical in offices and commercial premises, as it allows easy adaptation and expansion of the electrical installation. The cable trunking can also be optionally equipped with fire protection technology to ensure the functionality of the cables in the event of a fire. Alternatives to cable trunking are the laying of individual cables with cable clamps or the use of corrugated conduits, which are used particularly in drywalls and concrete elements.
